The Most Married Man

Jack Ardrey, two weeks short of his fortieth birthday, wants to borrow $50,000 from his ten-year-old son but is afraid to ask. It’s as if someone uprooted the family tree and stuck it back in the ground upside down.

A grandfather wins the $100 million jackpot in the Maryland State lottery and bequeaths it to his young grandson, skipping a generation of inheritance. He appoints his own son as executor of the Trust Fund in his grandchild’s name.

The Most Married Man tells the story of the explosive impact of financial feast and famine on love and marriage, probing the complex family dynamics that unfold in the wake of the grandfather’s death.

Total BS

A modern American fable, Total BS is the story of a remarkable man who is being cast aside by the institution that bears his name. The story is told by a 23-year-old journalist who is assigned to cover a basketball game that has drawn national interest. Little Marshall University (LMU) is in the midst of a perfect season. The journalist discovers two parallel stories: the contest on the basketball court to win a first-ever championship and the struggle in the Boardroom for control of the University’s identity.

Total BS is a story of the generations for the generations, celebrating the central theme of women being men’s equals on and off the court.

“If you plan on taking secrets to your grave,
choose cremation.”

- Inspector Xavier Hume

A man is murdered in a Washington DC hotel room. But after months of intense investigation, the MPDC (Metropolitan Police Department of the District of Columbia) can’t identify a suspect to charge with the crime. The victim’s widow hires Xavier Hume, a recently-retired member of the Pentagon Police Force who has opened a Private Detective & Security Services practice in the nation’s capital.

The killer’s M.O. reminds Xavier Hume of another unsolved case that a friend of his handled 10 years ago. The Librarian of Congress had died under suspicious circumstances, but the coroner’s report at the time had not given cause for further inquiry by the MPDC. Now seeking new evidence that might link both cases, Xavier Hume receives permission to exhume the Librarian’s body and conduct a forensic post mortem, literally “re-opening” the decade-old case.

X. Hume is the riveting story of how Xavier Hume connects, unravels and ultimately unlocks the mystery of both murders. It is the first book in The Cold Case Chronicles of Inspector Hume, a detective series by M. Lev.

Yordim

Leaving The Promised Land for the Land of Promise

Yordim— the Hebrew word for those who leave Israel— is the first book to explore the lives of Israelis who choose to live outside their homeland. In the aftermath of the 1973 Yom Kippur War, thousands more Jews left Israel than arrived to settle there. Why they leave, what happens to them in America, why they stay— these are the questions addressed in M. Lev’s critically-acclaimed first novel. Set against the backdrop of the United States Bicentennial celebration, this story of two brothers explores the reciprocal lures of Israel and America, presenting both countries through new eyes and remaking the world’s image of the modern-day Israeli. Do the brothers return to Israel, or do they become “yordim”?

A national book club selection, Yordim is a compelling saga about family and country, loyalty and loss. It is a searing look into the heart of the Israeli where the same war rages that rages in all of us— the war between needing to belong and needing to be free.

It’s said that a child finds his true identity when he discovers his passion. Kaz T. Lonzman’s passion is stories. His parents used to say, "Other children draw pictures with crayons. Kaz draws pictures with words.”

For Kaz, there's a sharp distinction between writing stories and telling stories. He considers writing a lonely task, more frustrating than fulfilling. But storytelling for him is freeing. Taken together, the vignettes that Kaz recounts in this volume tell the story of his remarkable life. Most of them seem too incredible to be believed.

This novel is not a work of fiction.
Any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, is intentional.
Every story included here actually happened.

ONLY PICTURES

Based on true events, Only Pictures is a docu-drama mystery about the defacement of a synagogue in suburban Washington DC by Ku Klux Klan members and how the congregation fought back against this hate crime, ultimately bringing its case before the U.S. Supreme Court.

“When the sun comes up tomorrow morning, everyone will see the desecration of our synagogue,” Rabbi Skolnick addressed the assembled leaders of the congregation.  “They will be shocked and saddened.  And it will be our role to offer words of comfort.  We should remind them that— as hateful and horrible as these spray-painted symbols are— they’re only pictures.”

Mr. Kornfeld, a Holocaust survivor who spent two years in Auschwitz, rose to his feet and rolled up his shirt-sleeve, revealing the tattoo on his forearm.  “And these are only numbers!” he said.
